Ferry Terminal Services

Note: Bayswater has a basic portacabin-style waiting area. An upgraded terminal is planned for completion before 2031. Free parking is available but can fill on weekdays.

Tip: Birkenhead village is a short walk up the hill. Cafés, supermarket and shops on Hinemoa St. The ferry also calls at Northcote Point on the way to/from the city.

Tip: Devonport village is immediately outside the terminal with dozens of cafés, shops, galleries and restaurants on Victoria Road. Great for a day trip! Mt Victoria and North Head are a short walk away.

Tip: Gulf Harbour Marina has a yacht club, small shops, and cafés within a 10-minute walk. The nearby Shakespear Regional Park is great for walking.

Tip: Half Moon Bay Marina has cafés and a small shopping area a short walk from the terminal. Also the departure point for SeaLink vehicle ferries to Waiheke.

Tip: Hobsonville Point is a vibrant area with dining, the Catalina Bay precinct, and weekend farmers' market. The Coastal Walkway is great for a stroll.

Note: Beach Haven is a simple wharf stop on the Hobsonville/Beach Haven ferry route. The Beach Haven village shops are a short walk up the road.

Important: There is no ticket machine at Te Onewa Northcote Point. You must use an AT HOP card, contactless payment, or buy a paper ticket at the Downtown Ferry Terminal before your return journey. This is a mid-route stop on the Birkenhead ferry.

Tip: Pine Harbour Marina has a small café and shop area. Also the departure point for SeaLink vehicle ferries. Bikes can be taken on the ferry and parked on the back deck.

Tip: Oneroa Village is a 20-minute walk from Matiatia, but most people catch the bus. AT Waiheke buses use AT HOP cards and depart timed to ferry arrivals. Off-island tickets can only be purchased at the Matiatia kiosk or ticket office.

Note: West Harbour ferry (Belaire Ferries) runs weekdays only, excluding public holidays. The marina has a café and restaurant. The West Harbour Circuit coastal walk starts nearby.
